PAST & PRESENT INITIATIVES
How our local elementary school inspired Social Impact at Fabworx
In the Summer of 2023, the guidance counselor from Govalle Elementary School sat down with us to discuss ways we could offer community support to their school and students. Aly Schneidman, our now Social Impact Director, was flooded with ideas for how to support them—and that conversation became the catalyst to create an entire Social Impact Department at Fabworx.
Now, Social Impact is its own operation, proudly sponsoring Govalle Elementary School and launching new, impactful initiatives around Austin each month.
Supporting Govalle means showing up for community
Food Pantry

Holiday Support

GOVALLE CAREER FAIR SPOTLIGHT
The Govalle Career Fair
Fabworx's participation in the Govalle Elementary School College & Career Fair, gave us the opportunity to provide presentations and hands-on experiences for Pre-Kindergarten through 6th-grade students. This engagement not only inspired young learners, but also offered them valuable insights into potential careers, igniting their curiosity about their futures.
PROGRAM SPOTLIGHT: ART ALL SUMMER
Creativity Changes Lives
Imagine a child discovering their love for art for the first time—holding a paintbrush, sculpting with clay, or designing a T-shirt worn by every student in their school. For the 378 students at Govalle Elementary, a Title 1 school in East Austin where 88% of families face economic hardship, access to creative resources is limited. That’s why Art All Summer exists.
We’re proud to be a corporate sponsor for Art All Summer—an Arts Enrichment Program at Govalle Elementary, inspiring learning and creativity over the summer break.

Take a Book. Share a Book.
Little Free Library is a nonprofit organization that promotes reading and expands book access for all. Through its global network of book-sharing boxes, it fosters community, encourages literacy, and helps ensure everyone has the chance to enjoy books.
We are proud to be 1 of over 200,000 little free libraries worldwide.
Care Bags
At Fabworx, we create care kits with essential items for Austinites experiencing homelessness. Our team keeps them on hand to give out, and we encourage visitors to take a few too. Our care bags include: water, snacks, hygiene kits, socks, ponchos, wet wipes.
So far, we’ve created over 400 kits for our local community.
Fabworx is an official business fundraiser through I Live Here I Give Here.
I Live Here I Give Here envisions a Central Texas where every community member is engaged in giving. They are on a mission to amplify giving in Central Texas through cultivating and creating deeper connections for givers and the issues they care about.
Amplify Austin Day
Amplify Austin Day is the biggest giving event in Central Texas. During a single 24-hour period, residents across a seven-county region come together to support more than 700 nonprofits.
As a “Business Fundraiser” Fabworx encourages employee charitable giving during Amplify Austin Day and matches those employee donations.
GivingTuesday
GivingTuesday is a global day of giving that takes place the Tuesday after Thanksgiving each year. I Live Here I Give Here has been serving as the Central Texas GivingTuesday Community Leader since 2017.
Fabworx encourages employee charitable giving on GivingTuesday and matches those employee donations.
Each month, we highlight a different Fabworx employee by donating $100 to the nonprofit or charity of their choosing.
This gives us an opportunity to tap into the passions and interests of every individual here at Fabworx and ensure that each employee is well represented.
Monthly Employee Highlight Program
“I love the Employee Highlight Program at Fabworx; it not only gives each of us a chance to support causes close to our hearts, but also lets us learn what matters to our teammates. I’ve discovered so many amazing organizations through this program”

About the Austin Green Business Leaders Program
Addressing the climate crisis and protecting our environment are critically important, and businesses have a significant role to play. Managed by the City of Austin Office of Climate Action & Resilience, the Austin Green Business Leaders Program recognizes businesses for doing good work in our community. Participating businesses have to prove their excellence across seven different sustainability-based categories — core commitment, waste management, water use, energy use, safe and healthy work environment, transportation, and community stewardship.
